Our Home Generator Installation Process
Get to Know You
Before estimating and scheduling, we ask that you complete our Free Quote section either on our site or by calling our office. This allows us to see the area where you believe your generator should go by providing pictures and other information. As mentioned on our pricing page, if at all possible we want to install the generator within 5 feet of your meter — however, it will need to be installed as close to your gas supply as possible. Please make sure your pictures include the gas supply area.
The Estimate
The estimate is only necessary if your generator does not meet the maximum 5-foot rule. As long as it does, you can move straight to Step 3. Once we have your pictures and information, we will either send you your estimate or send someone out to gather additional details. Once you receive your estimate, you can review and accept immediately through our email or text options. All estimates are guaranteed to be available within 24 hours of a tech visit or received pictures.
Deposit
All approved generator estimates require either a deposit, financing, or payment in full before scheduling can occur. By paying in full, you will receive a discount — details are available on our pricing page.
Schedule Your Install
That's right — you can schedule your own install right through our site! The scheduling option is available after your deposit has been made or you've paid in full. If you choose to finance, once your approval comes through please let us know immediately so we can schedule at your convenience. All scheduling options are made 4 weeks out. If an opening becomes available sooner, we will contact the first in line to move ahead of schedule.
Installation Day
Our team arrives on your scheduled date and installs your new Generac standby generator. Full payment is collected the day of installation once the work is complete.
Plumber Coordination
After installation, we coordinate with a licensed plumber for the gas line work. We recommend paying the plumber directly to avoid any markup fees.
Licensed Inspection & Commissioning
A licensed Generac dealer inspects all work and officially commissions your generator — activating your full manufacturer's warranty and ensuring everything is running perfectly.
Your Warranty Is Active
Every Generac installed by HGI comes with a full 5-year manufacturer's warranty. An extended 10-year warranty is also available for additional peace of mind — ask us about it at installation.
The Maintenance Plan
Once your commissioning is complete, you will receive an email with information about our maintenance plan. It's important to follow the recommended steps and have this peace of mind protecting your investment.
Permit & Inspection
This is the final piece of the process! There are times when inspectors require something that was missed during the install. These normally do not interfere with the operation of your generator and are usually addressed without any inconvenience. We will take every step to ensure your Generac Generator is ready when you need it most. Storm or shine, you're online with HGI every time!
